Key Terms 

Electron Flow (electricity)

The movement of electrons through a medium like a copper wire

Battery

A battery is a  device that stores and releases electrons through chemical reactions that involve an anode, cathode and an electrolyte

Voltage

Voltage is electrical potential energy

Current/Amperage

Current is the amount of electrons moving through a medium in a given point in time

Series

 Batteries connected in series add voltage together (volts)

Parallel

 Batteries connected in parallel add capacity together (amp/hours)

Resistance

 Something that limits the flow of electrons though a conductor

Conductor

A conductor has free electrons that can travel easily through it

Insulator

An insulator does not have free electrons that can travel easily through it

Short circuit

A short means that the power is flowing with little resistance bypassing the rest of the circuit and often resulting in damage to the wires or circuit components due to over heating

Basic circuit (battery, switch, resistor and LED)

An open circuit is one where the power will not flow.  electrical symbols for battery, switch, resistor and LED.  which way the power is flowing.
